Helping Families at Every Stage of Adoption

Adoption is a process of love. It causes pain and joy, uncertainty, and satisfaction. Most often, it provides a lifetime of happiness and a chance for a child to have a loving and caring home.

In America, there are over 50,000 children placed for adoption every year. It has been estimated that 10 times as many families are wishing to adopt a child.

Such figures demonstrate that there are many more families seeking a child than there are children available for adoption. This should not discourage a family in their adoption search but help them to understand that adoption may be a lengthy process.

At Acorn Adoption, we help make the adoption process as comfortable and worry-free as possible. Call us today for a free consultation with our adoption professionals.

Facts About Adoption in America

Adoption in America can be performed in a number of ways. Potential adoptive families can use free or low-cost government services and may even be eligible for a government subsidy. Outside of government services, families can use adoption professionals, the clergy, doctors, or friends to help in their adoption search.

Adoption professionals include individuals, attorneys, or professionals that assist in the adoption search to varying degrees. Attorneys should always be involved and many attorneys make adoption their specialty.

Other individuals with experience or expertise enter the adoption field to help families market themselves or to help with other aspects of the process. Adoption agencies are licensed by the state in which they operate, regulated charitable organizations staffed with knowledgeable adoption professionals.

Agency adoptions are those performed through a licensed child placement agency. These agencies are regulated by law and are inspected for compliance by the state in which they operate. Agencies are required to be 501(c)(3) charitable organizations. These organizations are staffed by experienced adoption professionals and are governed by a board of directors.
